Basketry with photojournalist Tom Baker

Originally from Minnesota, Tom Baker studied photojournalism at the University of Montana School of Journalism. In 2006, while in the midst of an internship at the Portland Tribune in Portland, OR, his father had a severe hemorrhagic stroke. He returned to Minnesota to help his family and eventually transitioned to start his freelance photography and videography business, specializing in photojournalism and documentary-style video storytelling. He has been published in local and national publications, including Minnesota Public Radio, where he has been a contributing contract photojournalist since 2012. In July, he won second place in the National Press Photographers Association monthly clip contest in the central region for his coverage of the Vance Boelter manhunt while working for MPR News.
